Lighted parade was wet, but lots of fun

To the Editor:

I would like to thank everyone who participated in the lighted parade this year: Steve Burns of Leggett, GR Wilcox Enterprises of Whitethorn, Redway Fire Department, Derek and Alicia Brewer, RCSD, the Garberville Lions, Gary Futrell of The Cuttings, and the Garberville Pilots Association. Due to weather conditions, some entries did not show.

I want to also thank Garberville Fire Department and the local CHP for being our escorts and Marty of the county road department for making sure we made it past the bluffs’ slide area safe and sound.

Special thanks goes to Brian Anderson for having a spare generator that Soroptimist could borrow at the last minute due to ours breaking down and also to Caltrans for letting us use their parking lot for judging.

Thanks to the following businesses for donating prizes: Benbow Historic Inn, Boot Leg, Sylvandale Gardens, and Renner Petroleum.

I hope anyone who has entered in the past that didn’t do it this year, considers doing it next year. It is a lot of fun and I hope everyone enjoyed watching it. Thank you for supporting women and girls.
