South Fork’s JV girls lost to Clearlake last Friday on the road 47-16.
"A game like this gets us ready for the kind of adversity we’ll face in league," said head coach Taylor Morrow of the physical contest held before the opponent’s loud home crowd. The team had to deal with "in your face pressure" throughout the game as well as a taunting crowd.
Bright spots in the experience for the Lady Cubs were a 7 for 11 showing from the free throw line and another strong performance from sophomore center McKenzie Crenshaw who was high scorer for South Fork with 8 points.
Kylee Teasley and Sydney Stevens each added a bucket and Antonia Navarrete, Marissa Pemberton, Lily Farrell and DJ Sterling each made a free throw.
The Lady Cubs next play at Hoopa in the Humboldt-Del Norte Little Four Conference opener on Friday, Jan. 4, and will look to use their toughened hides to give them their first win of the season against a team they have already shown the ability to compete with this year.
