The Mateel Community Center is currently in the midst of filling three seats on their board of directors. Incumbents Agnes Patak and Patty Torbert are both running for re-election, but treasurer Katz Boose has chosen to step down. Garth Epling, Michael DeLeon and Ron Jennings will also be running for office. Several others were nominated but declined to run.
Both incumbents and all three challengers met to discuss why they’re running last Wednesday night on KMUD’s "Mateel Shpiel" program. That candidates’ forum was moderated by Katz Boose and Andrew Burnett. It’s available online in KMUD’s audio archive at www.kmud.org.
Victors will serve three-year terms on a nine-person board. Ballots were mailed out to dues-paying members on December 1st, and they must be received or postmarked by December 31st. According to MCC general manager Justin Crellin, election results should be available in early January and new board members will be seated at next month’s regularly scheduled board meeting.
