Junior Dustyn Salomon took sixth place and was South Fork’s top finisher at the Cross Country County Finals last Saturday at the Arcata Marsh. With a time of 17:18 Salomon was 90 seconds faster than his previous time on the course and five places better than last year in the event.

Senior Ismael Lopez finished 10th place at 17:43, almost a minute faster than last year.

Junior Jesus Lopez finished 19th at 18:45, junior Andres Alatorre finished 24th at 19:59, and junior Cristian Alatorre was 29th at 21:44. Senior Damian Alatorre was 30th with a time of 21:52.

Senior Devin Hand finished 32nd in 23:13.

Salomon, Jesus Lopez and Damian Alatorre were all coming off demanding double duty on South Fork’s soccer team whose three rounds of play in the North Coast Section Championship had them making three long journeys while playing every minute of three tough matches in the previous ten days. They will have time to recover before Saturday’s NCS race in Hayward. Arcata’s Jose Lopez won the race with a time of 16:53.

The Lady Cub racers all competed in their first County meet with senior Tara Gallagher setting a new personal record in the 5K and taking 23rd place with a time of 27:13. Senior Tristan Jeffers was 24th in 27:46 and junior Miriam Duron was 25th in 31:10. Arcata’s Cloe Pigg won the race with a time of 18:22.
