On Oct. 25 deputies and tribal police officers contacted a subject in the 77000 block of Highway 162 in Covelo.
The subject, later identified as Anthony Wilburn, age 27, was determined to be on parole. He fled when deputies tried to search him for weapons.
Once the deputies were able to control Wilburn they located a .22 caliber handgun and .22 caliber ammunition concealed on his person. In addition, he possessed a syringe containing methamphetamine.
Wilburn was placed under arrest for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. He was also charged with possession of a concealed weapon in a public place and possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine.
Wilburn was transported without further incident to the Mendocino County jail and booked on the listed charges. He was held without bail due to a state parole hold.
