Learn all about the ecology of river bugs

The Bureau of Land Management and Lost Coast Interpretive Association will host The Biggest Little Critters in the Creek hike on Saturday, July 23. The hike will begin at 10 a.m. in the King Range National Conservation Area’s Wailaki Campground, located along Chemise Mountain Road, just 2.3 miles south of Shelter Cove Road.

The hike will be led by Humboldt State University Assistant Professor, Alison O’Dowd. Alison is interested in the ecology of freshwater environments and will share her knowledge of aquatic macroinvertebrates (river bugs) with participants.

This is a fun activity for the whole family, but be prepared to get a little wet. For more information or to sign up, please call 986-5415 or email ca338@blm.gov.
