South Fork’s girls’ soccer team lost two games last week, 4-0 to McKinleyville and 5-0 to Eureka.
They young team struggled to plug defensive holes against the Lady Panthers on Wednesday night in Miranda despite having plauyed them to a scoreless tie earlier in the season.
On Saturday the Lady Cubs did well to hold Eureka to a 5-0 loss, playing without one of their senior captains who was out due to illness and having only 11 players available in total, allowing for no substitutions.
Freshman Raya Mahoney made her debut in goal and came up with three strong saves while usual keeper senior captain Kathy Petersen played very well for the Cubs on the field.
This week the Lady Cubs will travel to St. Bernard’s on Wednesday and to Fortuna on Saturday.
