South Fork’s JV boys lost 53-42 to St. Bernard’s last Thursday evening in Miranda. While the Crusaders were making a lot of lucky shots the Cubs were racking up a lot of fouls and struggling to put the ball in the hoop. A weak second quarter left South Fork down by ten at the half and they could not overcome the deficit.

Three starters were in foul trouble and another fouled out as the fourth quarter heated up with the Cubs playing catch-up. "We didn’t play as smart as we usually do," said head coach Doug Moody.

Moody got everyone in the game and took the opportunity to look ahead to next year as most of the team will move up to varsity. "If you’re a good JV player you’ll be a good varsity player," he said. "We have a lot of solid JV players."

Top scorer for the Cubs was Grant Wick with 16. Cole Moody had 10, Armando Martinez had 7, Eli Kahan had 3, and Cole Jacinto, Kyle Valk and Cale Lehman each had a bucket.

The team will play its last game next Friday at home against Ferndale at 4:30. Having lost twice before to the Wildcats Moody expects to take the home game. "We came very close last time and we know we can do it."
