”We came alive in the 4th quarter and tied the game,” said head coach Doug Moody who would like to have seen South Fork humble the well-heeled private school players on their home court. With 11 seconds left down by 2 points the Cubs had a play sketched out to win the game but couldn’t hang on to the inbounds pass, and College Prep scored on the steal to put the game out of reach.
Sophomore Cole Moody led South Fork’s scorers with 16 points, including five 3-pointers. Freshman Kevin Vandenack had 10 points with one from behind the arc and sophomores Grant Wick and Eli Kahan each had 6 points.
The loss brings the JVs’ record to 10-3 on the year. The team played St. Bernard’s over the weekend, but details were unavailable at press time.
