South Fork’s netters ended their season on the road last Wednesday in the North Coast Section Division VI Volleyball Championship losing 12-25, 8-25, 13-25 to the #1 seed Anderson Valley. AV went on to win the title on Saturday over #2 seed Rincon Valley Christian.
Head coach Lisa Todd was disappointed in the result, having watched her fiery and hard-working squad perform well all season. "We were flat and we just couldn’t play as a team," she said. "Anderson Valley had great defense and played flawlessly."
Senior Shasta Carr led the team as she had all season with 4 points, 10 kills and 10 digs. Senior Jacy Snodgrass had a point and 14 digs. Junior Trisha Harrison had 2 points and 3 digs. Junior Kassie Humphrey had 12 digs and 2 kills. Sophomore Libbi Hartl had 2 points, 11 digs and 2 blocks. Freshman Emma Valk had 3 points and 8 digs and senior Paige Paup had 2 digs.
The team will lose Carr, Snodgrass and Paup to graduation, but should be competitive again next year with 4 returning players and a younger group moving up who gained a lot of experience playing on this year’s winning JV team.
