South Fork’s boys’ soccer team lost two matches last week, 1-0 to Fortuna on Wednesday and 3-1 to Del Norte on Friday.

Of the Fortuna game, coach Travis Genzoli said, "We played great on Wednesday vs Fortuna. Great ‘d’, patience and ball control. Dustyn Salomon, Damian Alatorre, Jesus Lopez and Eli Kahan were the heart of the team."

The losses bring the Cubs’ record to 2-10 on the season with two games to go. The lack of small school competition for the boys in the Humboldt-Del Norte Conference has cost the talented team an opportunity to compete at their own level, and their record does not reflect the quality of play they have achieved against big school powerhouses all season. They will face Arcata at Arcata High Wednesday at 5 p.m.
