South Fork’s cross-country team picked up another runner this week, bringing the number of athletes that went to the county meet at Patrick’s Point on the weekend to five.
Cub runner Kyle O’Rourke finished in 10th place with a time of 17:42, Gabe Miclette was in 18th and logged a time of 18:31, Ian Ivey took 23rd with 18:57, David Chadbourne finished 27th with 20:00, and new runner Lucas Sack was in the 29th position with 20:07.
The cross-country team will travel to Hayward on November 22 to compete in the North Coast Sectionals. Coach DJ Miclette says, “We’ll be working on some more conditioning, distance running, sprints, and a few more strides in the next two weeks.”
He also noted that several of the athletes will also compete in wrestling and basketball, which begin this week. “I’ll be giving the athletes some individual workouts tailored to their schedules,” Miclette says. “We’ll go down to Hayward and see what we can do against the other Division 5 schools.”
