The award recognizes contributions to the organization and the profession. Currently serving as the association’s official historian, a voluntary, non-elected position, Sobolik served as the organization’s president in 2004-2005, and is the only Humboldt County official to do so in the association’s history. Sobolik is currently the chief building official with the county.
”I am honored to be recognized by my peers,” said Sobolik. “CBOAC membership has afforded me a unique opportunity to work with other building officials and industry leaders in ongoing support of building safety.”
The award is voted on by the CBOAC executive board, which is comprised of the president, vice president, treasurer and secretary, and the organization’s board of directors. The association provides a forum for building officials to network and learn from one another.
”Mr. Sobolik has, for the nearly 13 years that I’ve known him, continued to distinguish himself with the organization by providing insight and assistance to other county officials,” said DeWayne Starnes, CBOAC president and interim director and chief building official for the Sonoma County permit and resource management department.
