”At this point it seems he did drown, but how he ended up there is a mys¬tery,” Humboldt County deputy coroner Trevor Enright said.
The coroner’s office is still working to identify the man, Enright said. The body does not match any missing person reports.
The man is described as an adult white male, approximately 35 to 55 years old, 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing 125 pounds, Enright said. He also is petite, appears to have brown hair, a brown and gray scruffy beard, and no tattoos.
His body was recovered near the Whistle Buoy after a fishing vessel alerted authorities.
