On Friday, Feb. 8, at approximately 8:30 p.m. a Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputy witnessed a man kicking the window of an unoccupied marked Sheriff’s patrol car three or four times causing damage to the car. The patrol car was parked in front of the Sheriff’s Office on 4th Street, Eureka.

When the suspect, later identified of as Vincent Sanchez, 27 years old from Eureka, saw the deputy and confronted him, he ran off. The deputy pursued Sanchez on foot and was joined by two other deputies who caught him near 1st and 8th Street, Eureka.

Eureka Police Department arrived to assist in the investigation and the arrest of Sanchez who was arrested for vandalism and resisting arrest. Eureka Police also learned six other vehicles in the area had been damaged by Sanchez.

Sanchez was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where his bail was set at $25,000.
