The district is an independent special district governed by a five-member board of directors, each of whom serves a two- or four-year term.
The district is committed to providing its residents with safe drinking water and wastewater collection services while preserving public health, protecting the environment, and providing outstanding customer service in a financially responsible manner.
Board membership requires a contribution of time, creativity, patience, an ability to work cooperatively and to make good decisions on behalf of the public they serve, as well as a personal commitment to GSD’s mission of providing water and wastewater services to the community of Garberville.
Candidates are required be a registered voter and resident in the district’s service area.
Those interested in being considered to fill these vacancies are asked to fill out an application and prepare a letter of interest that explains why they wish to become a GSD director and what skill sets and experience they would bring to the board.
Applications are available online at www.garbervillesd.org or at the district office at 919 Redwood Dr., Garberville, CA 95542.
Applications will be accepted until Oct. 1 for Connolly’s seat, and Nov. 1 for Schwartz’s seat. Both terms end December 2013.
