The Sierra County Coroner’s has notified the Eureka Police Department office that the identification of skeletal remains of a woman found in 2003 is that of a Eureka woman named Charlene Rosser. The remains were located in a heavily wooded area off of Hwy. 89, that runs between Truckee and Calpine.

Rosser was reported missing by her mother on October 26, 1998 to the Eureka Police Department. She reportedly had last been seen in April of 1998. Rosser was 29 years old when she was reported missing and was known to accept rides with truck drivers.

Identification was made through DNA samples from her mother and father that were sent to the California Department of Justice DNA Lab. Rosser’s family has been notified.
