Here is just some of the trash left on the river bar near the Miranda bridge over the weekend of May 19-20. Local residents gathered the disgusting trash and packed it out. This is an ongoing problem and will only escalate as summer arrives. Among the trash collected were several hard-liquor bottles, smashed beer bottles, around 30 diapers, a baby stroller, vomit on a beach towel, human waste, socks, shoes, plastic bags, beer cans, and numerous whip-its (nitrous-oxide canisters). Residents have also identified drivers leaving burnout marks on the bridge and along the Avenue of the Giants causing very dangerous conditions. If you see anyone trashing our riverbars and forests, turn them in to law enforcement. And remember to take out what you bring in.
