A Mendocino County Sheriff’s Deputy who approached a car on Stipp Lane in Ukiah about 8 p.m. Monday, March 8 reportedly smelled marijuana coming from inside the vehicle as the driver rolled down his window.

Deputy Don Scott and his K9 counterpart Hondo had come to check on a man in the 100 block of Stipp Lane who looked like he was asleep in his vehicle, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office stated.

Don Scoville, 47, of Honeydew, was booked at the Mendocino County Jail on suspicion of possession and transportation of marijuana. Scoville posted bail for the $30,000.

A search of Scoville’s vehicle found about nine pounds of marijuana in one-pound packages kept in the rear of the vehicle, police stated.

The search of the vehicle also revealed two methadone pills that Scoville had no prescription for, police stated.
