On Tuesday, Dec. 8 a house fire out on Wilder Ridge took the life of Peggy Etcheverry, a very well known Southern Humboldt resident. The house was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived on the scene and burned into the next day. The cause of the fire is under investigation and no more information was available at press time.

A memorial mass will be held at Redwoods Monastery in Whitethorn at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19. A celebration of her life will be held at Beginnings following the mass. A potluck meal will be served afterwards; bring your favorite dish to share.
