The trustees of the Southern Humboldt Unified School District will meet at Redway School on Thursday, June 18. Among the items on the agenda is a proposal from College of the Redwoods to purchase the old Garberville School on Sprowel Creek Road. This item was first presented at a special May 21 board meeting at Whitethorn School. The offer is lower than the trustees had hoped to get for the property.

The proposal came in an email from Dr. Jeff Marsee of CR. Marsee writes that the college wants to create an instructional site, including distance learning, for adults and high school students, re-institute the County Youth High School program, and upgrade the auditorium for community use. Additionally, they are proposing a “viticulture” program for the acreage behind the building.
