Firewood cutting is now allowed at a designated area in the King Range National Conservation Area, continuing until fire restrictions are put in place in mid-summer.
Permits, which cost $10 per cord, are available at the Bureau of Land Management King Range Project Office in Whitethorn, or the BLM Arcata Field Office, 1695 Heindon Road, Arcata. There is a two-cord minimum.
The BLM provide maps and wood cutting stipulations to permit purchasers.
