Flurina Niggli-Jackson, an assistant Zen teacher, will lead a new Zen group every Wednesday starting July 23, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Dharma Center in Garberville. She practiced Zen in Germany under Willigis Jäger Koun Roshi for many years.
Flurina will offer individual interviews, called Dokusan, and guide each participant in his/her practice.
Zen means understanding your true self. Who am I? What is this all about?
Through the practice of letting go of our thoughts and expectations, we can grow beyond the restrictive mind of our daily life consciousness. There is a dimension where the bottom drops out of the world of factuality and of the ordinary.
Interested beginners and advanced Zen students are both welcome. There is a Zen saying; “Zen mind - beginner mind.” That means Zen is a state of complete openness to the now and therefore a state of unknowing.
Life happens now. Nothing is outside now. In the now everything is clear and effortless. “The high sky is always blue. Water always flows into the ocean.” How is it possible to attain this freedom?
