The Eureka Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence are proud to present the first annual “Stonewall Prom.” This community event will take place on Saturday, June 28, from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. at Aunty Mo’s Lounge in Eureka.

Come out; come out wherever you are... Come out and take that special someone to the prom. This event celebrates the 39th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots (the beginning of the modern Gay Rights Movement) and the historical California Supreme Court decision to legalize same-sex marriage within California.

The birth of the Gay Rights Movement began as a riot on June 28, 1969 at the Stonewall Inn bar in New York City following police harassment. Communities around the world now celebrated annually with Gay Pride Parades and Festivals. Come learn more about the events that lead up to this explosive moment in history.

”The events of the Stonewall riots changed the world. Who knew that 39 years ago a small handful of our brothers and sisters would start a revolution that has rippled through time. I feel honor and respect for the brave ones that paved our way,” stated organizer John York.
