North Coast Parents will offer a summer solstice beach day at Samoa Dunes Recreation Area on Friday, June 20, at 10 a.m. New and prospective members are welcome to attend.

Parents and their babies, toddlers and preschool-aged children are invited to the beach day to celebrate the longest day of the year. Located on the Samoa Peninsula just past the Coast Guard station, this sandy beach on the bay is a safe and open space for kids to explore. Bring buckets, shovels and lunches. Rain and/or extreme wind cancels. Directions: Take Hwy 255 over the bay, turn left onto main highway through Samoa, take this road to Samoa Dunes Recreation Area (passing white Coast Guard station on left); parking is off road on the sand and will be on the left.

Organizing the beach day is North Coast Parents (NCP), a local grassroots organization that was created 20 years ago to serve as a support group for parents of babies, toddlers and preschool-aged children. NCP offers activities, small play groups, field trips, and meetings in safe, nurturing environments that provide socialization for young children and their parents. Also offered is a babysitting co-op, parents’ night out events and meals to new parents. A monthly
