Local experts will be sharing their love of nature this season through Sanctuary Forest’s free public hikes. Starting May 3, the beginning photography hike led by Pierre Gaude will kick off this year’s schedule of 15 hikes. Learn about insects with Pete and Judy Haggard, authors of Insects of the Pacific Northwest, fungus with Nathan Wilson, trail building with BLM’s Scott Adams, and other topics with the regular host of experts. Take in the amazing vistas from King Peak, explore tide pools in Shelter Cove, see insects up close in the Mattole River, or help build a new trail! Enjoy the company of friends and community members while learning about some of our local natural treasures. To sign up for any of the hikes listed below, call 986-1087 ext. 5.
