Poker Run: Time to roll out that bike and fire that puppy up. And there's no better way to blow out those cobwebs than by joining Kiwanis and their Pre-Redwood Run Poker Run & Bar-B-Q. Sign-in starts at 9 a.m. The Kiwanis Club will be grilling right out in front of the Branding Iron later that afternoon, and a fine steak dinner will be available until 6 p.m. for a very reasonable price to anyone who'd like to just stop on by.

Pilots' Rally: The Garberville Pilots Association will be holding the 2014 Garberville Young Eagles Rally at the Garberville airport on Sprowel Creek Road. Signups will begin at 11 a.m. Airplane rides for the kids will be free and a barbecue lunch will begin at noon. If you would like to volunteer or help out with this event, or would like to be a Young Eagles pilot, contact the event coordinator Fred Baron at twobarons@saber.netwww.youngeagles.org.

Plant walk: Edible and medicinal plant walk with Sanctuary Forest meets at the Restoration Forestry office just past Whitethorn School at 10 a.m.
