Van Dyke, who last played the Mateel in January of 2012, emerged from the San Francisco comedy scene in the ‘80s, quickly becoming a fixture on the nightclub circuit while winning several major comedy competitions. Since then he has headlined at major clubs across the country and has appeared on network and cable television, performed with musical acts such at The Pointer Sisters and The Neville Brothers, and entertained our armed forces serving overseas. He was also a semi-finalist in the prestigious San Francisco Comedy Competition and when not on the road teaches stand-up comedy classes in his home base, Sacramento. His hilarious takes on everyday life’s little dramas have made him an audience favorite on the comedy club circuit including Mateel’s Comedy Cabaret.
Comedian Yvette Fernandez, a former television reporter who said she was ‘’spreading lies and taking names’’ in her former profession, will be opening the show with a performance that has been described as smart and sassy with a dash of spicy salsa. Expect a lesson in ES-panglish.
Doors open at 8 p.m. with comedy at 8:30 p.m. Admission is $10 at the door and the show is recommended for those 18 and over only. Limited table seating is available with a two-drink minimum. Cocktails, beer, wine, snacks, desserts, and refreshments will be on hand.
