On Thursday, Oct. 24, the Latin Peppers will play classic and contemporary Latin Jazz and dance music, with compelling rhythms and soulful improvisation from Coltrane to Tito Puente to Buena Vista Social Club. The group includes Jimmy Durchslag on trombone, Orlando Morales on timbales, Lee Phillips on bass, Tim Randles on piano, Arnie Morales on congas and Andy Barnett on trumpet.
The jazz ensemble Humboldt Time will perform on Friday, Oct. 25. The three core members, Jimmy Durchslag, trombone; Michael Curran, drums; and Jim Wilde, guitar, have been playing together in various ensembles for over 20 years. Bassist Damien Roomets will join them for some straight-ahead, classic jazz as well as Latin grooves.
Persimmons is open Wednesday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. with music from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. In addition to Briceland wines, Persimmons welcomes back Elk Prairie and Whitethorn wineries. They will also carry Joseph Jewel, Alder Springs and Bergin-Sipila. Beer is soon to come. Salads, vegetarian and meat dishes, desserts and art can be enjoyed in the garden setting.
Persimmons is located across from KMUD on Redway Drive and is available to rent for private parties.
