Next the band transforms into A Fiendish Threat, pumping out a 30-minute set of their latest hardcore, punk horror rock. As much a part of Hank 3’s musical identity as his country roots, A Fiendish Threat rocks a ripping blast of sounds reminiscent of The Misfits, Minor Threat, 7 Seconds, The Ramones and other punk rock greats. Riding beneath his howling, distorted vocals are stand up bass, fiddle, and banjo, not exactly standard instruments in punk rock, but A Fiendish Threat is Hank 3’s brand of punk.
Hank 3’s Attention Deficit Domination set features his ADD Doom Metal and a showing of the short film, Tribulation 99, about aliens who took refuge under the earth’s surface after escaping their own dying planet called Quetzalcoatl in the year 1000.
For the grand finale the band rocks the 3 Bar Ranch segment of the show that can best be described as speed metal with cattle calling. Music and film blogger Ray Van Horn describes 3 Bar Ranch as “an unholy alliance between death metal, cowpunk, grindcore and thrash, all spewed single-handedly by Hank III with dizzying sprays of cattle auctioneering overtop.” Hank 3 needs to be experienced to be believed.
