On Friday, April 5, the Mateel Community Center in Redway welcomes comedian Gene Renfroe to the monthly Mateel Comedy Cabaret night. Like all self-respecting Chicago comedians, Renfroe did his improv training at Chicago’s famous Second City, the career launch pad of countless comedians, notably several Saturday Night Live alums who went on to become big stars including Dan Akroyd, John Belushi, Gilda Radner and many others. With a quick wit that keeps audiences laughing, Renfroe’s comedy is based on his views of the world

Doors open at 8 p.m. with comedy at 8:30 p.m. Admission is $10 at the door and the show is recommended for those 18 and over only. Limited table seating is available with a two-drink minimum. Cocktails, beer, wine, snack foods, desserts, and refreshments will be on hand. For more information, call 923-3368 or visit www.mateel.org.
