Topiary is the art of shaping plants to create living sculpture. The Humboldt Rose Society is delighted to welcome Janet Mattson of Corbettcritters in Carlotta, who will describe how frames provide the guide needed to shape plants into animals, people, and other interesting items that become "whimsical focal points for any garden.”

Check out the website: www.corbettcritters.com. Intrigued and curious members of the community are invited and welcome at Christ Episcopal Church, Parish Hall, 15th and H Streets, Eureka on Thursday, March 14 at 7 p.m. Refreshments are provided, and opportunities to add plants to the garden, plus other kinds of items are available at the silent auction.

These monthly meetings are also times when questions about rose selection, care, and maintenance can be discussed, with recommendations and suggestions provided by the rosarians, HRS members who have experience, expertise, and additional training in growing roses in north coast climates. A good reference is the HRS website: www.humboldtrose.org.
