Van Dyke grew up in Marin County and began performing comedy in 1984 after finishing college. After quickly becoming a fixture on the Bay Area nightclub circuit, he went on to win several major comedy competitions and has headlined across the U.S. He has performed on network and cable TV, opened for top musical acts including The Pointer Sisters and the Neville Brothers, and has entertained U.S. troops overseas. Van Dyke’s humorous take on everyday-life’s little dramas has audiences rolling in the aisles.
This month’s comedy club will benefit Mateel friend and fantastic volunteer Chrysse Ottison, who is battling breast cancer. Chrysse, a resident of Eureka, has been the volunteer in charge of the kitchen at the monthly Mateel comedy club for the last couple years. Her good friend, chef Ben Ward, will be serving a delicious gourmet dinner, the proceeds of which will go to help Chrysse during this difficult time.
Doors open at 7 p.m. for those who want to come early to enjoy the dinner. The comedy show will start at 8:30 p.m. Admission is $10 at the door. The show is recommended for those 18 and over only. Limited table seating is available with a two-drink minimum. Cocktails, beer, wine, snack foods, desserts, and refreshments will be on hand.
