Guests will taste the entire selection of wines including newly released 2011 Mendocino Zinfandel and 2011 Phelps Vineyard Pinot Noir with hors d’oeuvres including local oysters, meats and cheeses.
This summer, Briceland had 13 wines recognized by Appellation America’s Best of Appellation program including five double gold and eight gold awards. Each of the 11 wines Briceland Vineyards entered in the 2012 Humboldt County Fair wine competition earned awards, making Briceland the most awarded winery in this year’s competition.
Recently, three of Briceland’s wines received top reviews from wine writer and Pinot Noir expert, Rusty Gaffney of www.princeofpinot.com. In his California Pinot Noir from A to T, Gaffney says of Briceland, “This producer deserves more recognition. The Pinot Noirs, in particular, offer impressive quality at modest prices often unmatched by other California wineries.”
Over two thirds of the grapes for Briceland wines come from tiny family vineyards scattered throughout Humboldt County, mainly in the Eel and Mattole River valleys. The winery’s handcrafted style focuses on allowing the unique traits of Humboldt County to shine through in the wines.
Briceland holds two two-day tasting events at the winery during Memorial Day and Thanksgiving weekends. All wines are available to taste and purchase.
