The musicians will be Francine Allen, Tanner Speas (NPK), Jessie Rubin and Curtis Thompson (Kulica). This will be a family event with the first several rounds of songs being children’s songs. There is a $10-$20 sliding scale charge at the door although children 12 years and under are free.
There will be sushi, miso soup, cabbage salad and desserts available for purchase. Persimmons will be selling wine and non-alcoholic drinks. Also available for purchase will be jewelry that the Sidai children have made. For more information call Michele Palazzo at 223-0112.
Michele Palazzo is a teacher at Children’s House at Beginnings and a local herbalist who volunteered at Sidai Children’s Home two-and-a-half years ago. She was touched and inspired by the children there, many of them orphans and since her return from Kenya has been fundraising for Sidai and initiating projects to help them become self sustainable.
Previous fundraisers have allowed her to start animal and garden projects as well as secure water storage tanks. Sidai Children’s Home now raises cows, pigs, sheep, goats, rabbits and chickens for meat, milk and eggs plus they have a large garden where they grow many vegetables, fruit, and herbs. They now can feed themselves and are starting to have some excess that they can sell.
The money raised on Nov. 10 will go to help them obtain medical supplies and care. This is important since there are children that are HIV positive plus have bouts with malaria, cholera and other less serious illnesses. The Songwriters in the Round will be a fun event for a great cause so please come out to help these children in need.
