Font ResizeEveryone is invited to attend. This month we will have a special visitor, Dominic Corva. Dominic is a geographer at Sarah Lawrence College.
Dominic says, “I am currently in the area interviewing folks about the history of cannabis agriculture, policing, and community organizing in Northern California. This is a postdoctoral research project that will be published as academic journal articles and a book.”
Dominic’s research project follows his doctoral project at the University of Washington, which was about the war on drugs and economic restructuring in Latin America.
He says, “The new project also follows from my personal interest in ending the war on drugs, and making the world a less bad place. I would love to hear any stories you can tell me about how things worked and changed here.”
Dominic Corva teaches about the political economy of cannabis and other illicit crop geographies, and speaks at Seattle Hempfest every year.
Dominic will tell the group something of what he has been discovering during his research and will be open to questions. Discussion will follow; all are welcome to contribute their thoughts and history or simply to sit and listen.
As is customary, the first half hour of the meeting will provide time for introductions and quick sharing of news and networking information.
