Each club member will receive a gameboard showing the interior of the Night Library. Eight groups of book characters are scattered throughout and the goal of the game is to rescue them. Currently they are trapped inside the covers of their books and need help getting free. Progress is earned by reading library books. It takes 22 books to complete the game. Younger children can also play the game by listening to stories read to them by an older sibling or parent. Upon completion, each child will receive a coupon for a free personal pizza from Round Table.
The Summer Reading Club begins as soon as school gets out, which varies by community. Each library will offer a kick off party for the Summer Reading Club and the schedule of parties is as follows:
Fortuna Library on Friday, June 22 at 10:30 a.m. with storyteller Ross Mackinney
Blue Lake Library on Friday, June 22 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. with clown Shea FreeLove
Garberville Library on Friday, June 22 at 3 p.m. with magician Shantaram
Arcata Library on Saturday, June 23 at 2 p.m. with storyteller Ali Freedlund
Ferndale Library on Saturday, June 23 at 2 p.m. with storyteller Ross Mackinney
