This year the Humboldt County Library will be sponsoring a Summer Reading Club at the main library in Eureka, all branch libraries and the bookmobile. The theme is "Dream Big -READ!" and young participants will be going on a reading adventure in the Night Library.

Each club member will receive a gameboard showing the interior of the Night Library. Eight groups of book characters are scattered throughout and the goal of the game is to rescue them. Currently they are trapped inside the covers of their books and need help getting free. Progress is earned by reading library books. It takes 22 books to complete the game. Younger children can also play the game by listening to stories read to them by an older sibling or parent. Upon completion, each child will receive a coupon for a free personal pizza from Round Table.

The Summer Reading Club begins as soon as school gets out, which varies by community. Each library will offer a kick off party for the Summer Reading Club and the schedule of parties is as follows:

Fortuna Library on Friday, June 22 at 10:30 a.m. with storyteller Ross Mackinney

Blue Lake Library on Friday, June 22 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. with clown Shea FreeLove
