The Riverwood Inn in Phillipsville welcomes soul and rhythm and blues diva, Kaye Bohler, on Friday, Nov. 13, starting at 9:30 p.m. Kaye is frequently called the “White Tina Turner,” for the amount of energy and power she puts out on stage. Her 3-octive-plus range, naturally curly, blond ringlets and curvaceous silhouette don’t hurt the equation, especially coupled with her 27 years of experience in the music business. She is a powerhouse performer loaded and ready to rock you relentlessly.
Kaye Bohler returned to the 2009 Blues By the Bay Festival this past Labor Day in an unprecedented second-year-in-a-row performance and brought down the house. She reflects that, “It was a bittersweet invitation to take the place of an ailing Norton Buffalo. I think his energy must have infused in me that day, because with only 2-1/2 hours sleep from our night-long journey to get there from San Jose, I couldn’t believe some of notes I hit, notes I’ve never hit before.”
Bohler, having just released her latest CD, Like a Flower, featuring Robben Ford and Tommy Castro, sits poised to launch into blues atardom. The material on the CD is all written by Bohler and shows off her vast abilities as songwriter. It has garnered great reviews and is currently in heavy contention for a Blues Foundation nomination. Catch this show at the Riverwood Inn on Friday. Cover charge is $10.
