The Sequoia Park Zoo Foundation, the fund-raising arm of the Sequoia Park Zoo, is looking to extend its reach into the broader Humboldt County community.

The Foundation is looking for additional board members to help shape future Zoo projects and expand the appeal of the Zoo to residents and visitors alike. For those who don’t feel able to commit to board-level involvement, a number of committee membership opportunities are also available; committees include Communications, Fund Development, Café and Food Services, Gift Shop, Finance, Personnel, and Volunteer.

”Sequoia Park Zoo plays an important role in our community, as a valuable adjunct to our schools and as an enjoyable way for everyone to learn more about animals and conservation efforts both here and across the world,” says Foundation President Donna Pace. “To ensure our goals and plans for the Zoo meet the needs of everyone in Humboldt County, we are seeking the views of a wide range of North Coast residents.

”If you have ideas about how the Zoo can best meet the needs our animal residents and the people of Humboldt County in the 21st century, please consider applying for membership of the Foundation Board or volunteering for one of our committees.”

Anyone interested in joining the Board or one of the committees is invited to attend the next board meeting as a guest on Tuesday, Nov. 18. Call the Foundation offices at 707-442-5649 or send an email to info@SequoiaParkZoo.net for more information and meeting details.

The mission of the Sequoia Park Zoo Foundation is to promote and stimulate interest in the Sequoia Park Zoo and support the zoo’s development, operation and activity programs through fundraising, marketing, and other initiatives designed to enhance the zoo’s position as an important Northern California destination.
