In the upcoming year, the Kiwanians have several new projects to work on as well as the yearly events, such as Toys for Tots on Dec. 14, also to be held at the Riverwood Inn.
Kiwanians are always looking for more members to join their fun group. To contact them, you can approach any one of them on the street or email them at: kiwanisoftheredwoods@yahoo.com.
The new officers for this year are: President, Don Dailey; President Elect 2009-2010, Danielle Whitmore; Vice President, Robin West; Secretary, Stephen Frech (ez-out); Treasurer, Bob Gross; One Year Director, John Earp (immediate past president), along with Fran Earp, Charlotte Ritter, and Dave Sky; and Two Year Directors: Brian Shapiro, Mario Rocha, and Karen Baker.
The Kiwanis of the Redwoods meet on the first and third Thursdays of each month at the Healy Senior Center in Redway.
Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time.
The name “Kiwanis” means “we trade”
Kiwanians are volunteers changing the world through service to children and communities. Kiwanis members help shelter the homeless, feed the hungry, mentor the disadvantaged, and care for the sick. They develop youth as leaders, build playgrounds, raise funds for pediatric research, and much more. No problem is too big or too small. Why? Because working together, members achieve what one person cannot accomplish alone. When you give a child a chance to learn, experience, dream, and succeed, great things happen.
As Kiwanis clubs and members, we see it every day.
