Authorities recovered the body of a man on Friday, Aug. 23 from the waters off Shelter Cove after being alerted by Brandon Centeno on a fishing vessel, officials said.
An adult white male was found near the Whistle Buoy, Shelter Cove Volunteer Fire Department duty Officer Cassidy Etter said.
The body has been released to the Humboldt County Coroner's Office, Etter said.
He said the Shelter Cove Volunteer Fire Department sent out an ocean rescue team after being notified.
Etter said he was unable to comment on the circumstances of the death, how long the body had been in the water, or if any foul play was involved.
No other details were available as of Friday.
