Sequoia Park Zoo in Eureka is offering an expanded line up of educational programs this spring, with something for everyone ages 5 and above. The Zoofari Adventure Camps provide a unique experience where children can explore the natural world while developing intimate relationships with animal ambassadors.

Cub Club, for 5- to 7-year-olds, offers a series of themed camps that give children the opportunity to explore the world of animals through hands-on activities, theater, stories, games, and art projects. Each camp runs from 9 a.m. to noon and costs $25 per child.

o Interesting Insects - Saturday, June 8

Junior Zookeepers, for 8- to 11-year-olds, offer older kids the opportunity to explore the animal kingdom in greater depth. Spring break is right around the corner and Springtime at the Zoo is a great way to celebrate the season. This session boasts four consecutive days of fun exploring the world of insects, amphibians, birds, and mammals through activities and games. Springtime at the Zoo will be held Tuesday, April 9 - Friday, April 12, from 9 a.m. to noon ($70 per child).

Family ZooSnooze is an overnight adventure at the zoo for families who are looking for a really wild experience (children 5 and up). Participants will play games that explore nocturnal animal adaptations, visit the zoo animals to observe their nocturnal behavior, tell stories around the campfire, visit with a special zoo ambassador and camp out overnight on zoo grounds. In the morning, families will enjoy breakfast with the primates - an experience not to be missed. This is the second year the zoo is offering families the rare chance to overnight at the zoo on Friday, June 21 starting at 6 p.m. to Saturday, June 22 at 9 a.m. ($65 per child and adult). Reserve your space early, this offering is expected to fill up quickly.

”Nothing makes me happier than hearing a child share their love of an animal at the zoo and their inspiration to protect that animal in the wild,” said Amber Neilson, the zoo’s education supervisor.
