Kyles was last seen on February 2, 2013 walking naked on a trail (chanting and doing a walking meditation) in Annadel State Park in Sonoma. There was a massive search and rescue (SAR) operation with the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office and 300 SAR volunteers for the first six days with a couple of other small searches over the last two weeks. There were footprints found throughout the park and dog teams found traces of him but they still have not found his body or any fresh traces since the first couple days of the search.
It is believed that he may have experienced a psychotic break and is in need of immediate medical attention if he made it out of the park alive.
Kyles has felt a connection to the Arcata/Eureka area since his brother attended school there in the late 1990s. Since then he has talked about living there and has a fascination with the idea of being homeless or “living off the grid.” He also told a friend two days before he disappeared that he was quitting his landscaping business and wanted to move and work at, or open, a vegetarian restaurant.
Kyles is a white male, 6’6" tall and weighs 185 pounds. He looks like a tall skinny basketball player. He has short blonde-brown hair. He was wearing a white gold, plain wedding ring on his left hand (ring finger). The family has no idea what clothes he would be wearing. Some clothes were found at the park, as well as his pickup, which was full of his clothing.
If he had other clothes with him hidden somewhere in the park the only items that his wife was able to confirm are missing are brown leathers slip-on loafers (earth shoes) and an orange T-shirt that says Boy Floyd on it in blue.
A Facebook page has been set up at http://www.facebook.com/findjason.kyles?ref=tn_tnmn
The family can be reached day or night at 916-757-4866.
They are desperate for his safe return.
