Eddie E. Creech, beloved father, granddad, great-granddad, teacher and friend has recently passed to be with his Lord and Savior on February 1, 2013. He was born May 11, 1922.

Eddie has been a resident of Humboldt County for the past 70 years. Eddie joined the CCC in 1939 and served in the Coast Guard for three years. During that time he married and had two daughters.

Eddie graduated as valedictorian with a Bachelor of Arts in 1953 and continued for his Masters in 1954. He taught English at South Fork High School from 1955 to 1969 and then retired to write stories, scripts, music and create word puzzles. His dream was to leave a legacy for his children and grandchildren.

Eddie loved studying Latin and was fluent in English, Spanish and French. But most of all he loved his family, looking forward to their visits, life, and laughing often.

Eddie is survived by his daughters, Tina Johnson of Yerington, NV and Rebecca Hinderman of Madras, OR; grandchildren, Heidi Sanchez, Andy Creech, Renee Quittenton, Al Hinderman, Matt Caston; cousins, Don Ilia, Mia Ilia, Lisa, Deena and Joy; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Pearl Creech; father, Glen Johnson; cousin, Bernice; and granddaughter, Erika Cummings.

A celebration of Eddie’s life was held on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Goble’s Fortuna Mortuary, 560 12th St. Fortuna, CA, with veteran’s honor at Sunrise Cemetery following the funeral service.
