Realizing that at almost 50 years of age she was most likely only halfway through her work life, Maggie Kraft decided to take a “break” and join the Peace Corps. She was assigned to Botswana and as a long-time advocate for seniors and people with disabilities, ended up working with the disabled population in her role as “NGO capacity builder.” The Peace Corps focus there is entirely on HIV/AIDS prevention work.
Kraft will share her recent Botswana experiences at the North Coast Mensa no-host luncheon on Saturday, Jan. 26 from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Samoa Cookhouse. The meeting is open to the public and reservations are not needed. For information, call (707) 768-9701.
