The motorcyclist, Kent Bradburn of Eureka, was soon transported to the hospital. The other party, Tina Wantt of Salyer, was driving a 1996 Ford Explorer, she and her three passengers were uninjured.
It appears that Wantt was stopped at the stop sign northbound on C Street at 4th street when she pulled into the path of Bradburn who was riding westbound on 4th Street. Bradburn collided with the passenger side of the Explorer causing him to be ejected from the motorcycle.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation. Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact officer Michael Quigley or senior traffic officer Gary Whitmer at the Eureka Police Department (707) 441-4232. Alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the collision.
While at the hospital following up on the collision and checking on the status of Bradburn officers located approximately seven grams of suspected methamphetamine individually packaged, a scale and numerous baggies in Bradburn’s property. Bradburn was not immediately released from the hospital due to the extent of his injuries.
Officers will forward a case against Bradburn to the district attorney’s office for possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for sales, transportation of a controlled substance, and for driving without a motorcycle endorsement.
