Do you or your loved one have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, arthritis, depression, heart disease, obesity, chronic pain, or another chronic condition? Would you like to learn techniques for self-management in a supportive and productive setting?

Aligning Forces Humboldt is offering an opportunity to participate in “Our Pathways to Health” workshops at Redwoods Rural Health Center located at 101 West Coast Rd. in Redway. You do not need to be a patient of RRHC to attend - the workshop is open to the entire community.

”Our Pathways to Health” is a free chronic disease self-management workshop that helps individuals with long term health conditions (or caregivers) gain self-confidence in their ability to manage their symptoms, partner with their provider, and develop and achieve mini-health goals in an encouraging and helpful environment. These techniques are sure to stick with you when other New Year’s resolutions fade away.

The intimate, curriculum-based workshop will meet for two and a half hours, one time a week, for six consecutive weeks. In Redway, classes will be held on Thursdays from 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. from Jan. 17 to Feb. 21. The peer-led program covers topics such as techniques for dealing with frustration, fatigue, pain, and isolation, the role of good nutrition in condition management, and tips for improved communication with health professionals, family, and friends.

”Our Pathways to Health” is a powerful, rewarding experience. Workshop graduates experience better health, more energy and confidence, less pain and fatigue, improved communication with health care providers, and fewer doctors visits and hospital stays. As a past participant stated, Our Pathways to Health can be a first step towards “living a longer and happier life.”

Classes begin Jan. 17 and space is limited. For more information or to register for the workshop, please call (707) 923-2783 or (707) 445-2806 extension 4.
