On Wednesday, Oct. 24, Persimmons Garden Gallery presents singer/guitarist Gary Stuart accompanied by drummer Michael Curran. Gary plays everything from Louie Armstrong to Dave Matthews to Jethro Tull and James Taylor.

On Thursday, Oct. 25, Mark Growden will take the stage playing Americana and roots music on accordion, banjo and voice.

The SF Bay Guardian said of Mark, “Though Growden captures the sorrow and sincerity of a high lonesome crooner, his unique instrumental blend of Dixieland, frontierland, and Gypsy caravan band inhabits a genre all its own.”

And the East Bay Express said, “Torrid lyricism and fierce accordion rascality. His live shows are becoming the stuff of legend.”

On Friday, Oct. 26, jazz bass player Chris Amberger will perform with Francis Vanek and Mike Curran. Amberger’s propulsive, swinging style has made him a first-call bassist in the SF Bay Area for over 30 years.

He has performed with artists such as Freddie Hubbard, Art Pepper, and Steely Dan. He has toured and worked with Art Blakey, George Shearing, Cal Tjader and Richie Havens. He leads a quartet every Wednesday night at Yoshi’s San Francisco.
