Things are heating up as fire artists and performers from near and far prepare for Humboldt County’s third annual fire arts festival, Sea of Flames: Fire for the Arts.

Hosting this latest venture of the F Street Warehouse Arts Collective is the Blue Lake Casino. Proceeds will go to the Coastal Grove Charter School PTO and the Blue Lake Fire Department.

This family-friendly two-day interactive festival will feature some of the best known fire artists and flame technicians on the West Coast, including participants from Department of Spontaneous Combustion, Flux Foundation, Bella Vita Fire Dance Company, Blue Lake Iron Works, Mischief Lab and F Street Warehouse Arts Collective, many of whom have displayed their works at Burning Man for many years.

In addition there will be a wide array of theatrical and aerial performers including Humboldt’s very own Aerial Dance Circus and Synapsis.

There will be a variety of vendors of delicious food and creative wares. Bring the little ones to the kids’ village for fun with arts, handcrafts and other entertainment with local performers.

A fantastic musical line-up will include live bands and DJs such as Motherlode, Acufuncture, St. John and the Sinners, Dj Touch, OnHell, Treemeista, Dumbah.DJ, @uDioGa$m, Alien Lounge and more.

Costumes are encouraged and there will be a kids’ parade on Saturday afternoon as well as a costume contest for adults later in the evening on Saturday.

Festivities take place Oct. 26 and 27 from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tickets are $10/day at the gate. If you are interested in participating or volunteering please contact Lorraine Tryon at (707) 223-3034.
