Last week’s story about the Southern Humboldt Community Healthcare District included an announcement of the hiring of a new patient financial services manager, Sue Adams.

Unfortunately, Adams resigned from that position on Friday, Sept. 28, too late for us to correct the information in our article.

According to SHCHD administrator Harry Jasper, Adams’s departure was “surprising but respectful.” Jasper explained that Adams determined that the community and the position were “not what she had been looking for... The community was not a good fit for her.”

SHCHD has hired an interim patient financial services manager on contract from the district’s financial consultants, Eide Bailly. The interim manager will oversee the business and health information management offices, focusing on accurate and timely billing and responding to patients’ questions about their billing, Jasper said.

In the meantime, the district is continuing its recruitment effort for a permanent manager. “We are looking for someone who has significant experience in patient financial services management,” Jasper added.
